One year ago today I had my med school interview in Kirksville. My GPS took me on the back roads to get there….I was nauseous from all the rolling hills….I hit a cat on my way….It broke my front bumper….So it was kind of a crazy trip. Somehow, I managed to have a good interview, and months later I found out that I had been accepted. It was a dream come true for me, as I have wanted to be a doctor for as long as I can remember.
This Thanksgiving I am truly thankful to be in med school. I am happier as a med student than I have ever been before. Everyday I thank God for allowing me this opportunity, and I hope I never forget how truly blessed I am to have this experience.
Med school is very trying at times. It is a lot of studying, a lot of time, and a lot of stress. I hardly get to spend any time with my husband, I rarely get to talk to my friends, and I have very little time to do anything besides study. But at the end of every day, I feel fulfilled. I feel like what I am doing has meaning, and that someday I might actually get to do some good for people.
Happy Thanksgiving!
